The Diary of Castaways Island by Tiarie Vaughn-Lazzar

When Lexie Hoskins’ husband and baby die within months of each other she is forced to leave their beloved India and return to England. Providence, however, has another fate planned. Shipwrecked on Castaways Island, with an orphaned baby the same age as her own, she is discovered by David Ackerman who takes them home to his family. Faces turn pale and she is told he doesn’t exist when she asks about him. He does, of course, and Lexie will have no one else, but can she love him after his secret is divulged and even then can they survive years of trials and tribulations of living on an uninhabited island?

Excerpt

As she sneaked him a sideways glance, Lexie allowed her mind to wander on all the reasons why she was growing attached. There was the relationship he had with Peter, the way he tried hiding his smile when she teased him, and the way his dark locks fell into his face… shadowing it and giving him the look of mystery that intrigued her. Oh Alexandra, just try concentrating on eating.

When he felt her gaze shift from his face, David allowed his to wander onto hers. Her face was flushed from having cooked by the fire and from the heat of the day. Her hair had loosened and baby Peter grabbed a fistful of the fire-hair, tugging it and breaking into a fit of laughter when she gave a little cry. She recovered her hair from his mighty grip, covered his face with kisses, and continued eating. No matter how much he watched and observed her, no matter if she smelled of preparing a meal, or was covered in mud, she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
